When I lived in Bangalore more than two decades back I lived in Malleswaram – the good old cultural hub of Bangalore dotted with temples, markets, eateries. There weren’t any heritage walks to explore the oldest neighborhoods of Bangalore.
This time I am signing up for Heritage walks led by Mansoor Ali of Bengaluru by Foot. Yesterday we explored Chamrajpet – the central part of Bangalore which was founded by Kempe Gowda. Though history of Bangalore dates much longer back. We can still say modern Bangalore is rooted in these neighborhoods.
Here are a few clicks of the neighborhood which is actually a showcase of the confluence of diverse culture which existed then and thrives even today. It is dotted with oldest temples, mosques/dargahs, churches, sanskrit college, school, publishing house, park, eateries and much more. Roads are in a deplorable state but one can still walk around.
