This was my first visit to Pondicherry, thanks to my personal history project.
It is a lovely quaint little coastal town which was an erstwhile French colony. The history of the town dates much back before the French arrived. But as they lived here for nearly three centuries, their cultural legacy still thrives.
The old French colony in the White Town with lovely villas, churches, parks, cafes and the beach feels like a slice of France. But on the other hand the historic connection with revolutionaries who settled here like Aurobindo and C Subramania Bharati gives it an interesting cultural milieu and context.
France loves revolutionaries and vice versa…
